Tony Oakley

13 November 2009

Sadly, Tony Oakley died on Friday 6 November.

Tony was diagnosed with cancer during the summer.

Playing for Oxfordshire County Council Staff, Tony played against the Mills for over thirty years, and played for us in a good number of games. He also played for North Oxford Thursday XI and West Witney, and when he finished playing Saturday cricket he became a very proficient umpire. He played for the Staff last season, and umpired until the middle of the season.

In recent years, he had been a great contributor to this club, helping on the ground, and had enjoyed some good days with David, Mike, and George.

It’s hard to think of a nicer man. Tony will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

We offer our sincere condolences to Tony’s wife Eve, his daughters Sarah, Ruth, and Amy, and his grandchildren.
