Some History

Cricket has been played on the Witney Mills Cricket Ground for well over a hundred years. Originally the ground was owned by the Early's of Witney blanket company and it was their team that played its matches on this site. Although blankets are no longer made in Witney, the tradition of cricket continues. The club's motto 'Weave Truth With Trust' reflects the origins of the club.

WG Grace at Witney Mills

The legendary WG Grace played on the Mills ground on 16th September 1903, when he played for the Mills against Oxford University.

During that time the Witney Mills Cricket Club had an annual challenge match against the university, with the Mills being reinforced with star players.
